PENOBSCOT – Phyllis H. (Over) Staples, 90, died Dec. 12, 2006, at a Belfast nursing facility. She was born June 25, 1916, in Prospect Harbor. Phyllis was raised in Belfast and graduated from Crosby High School. She was a lifelong member of South Penobscot Baptist Church, enjoyed gathering with her friends and in her younger years, enjoyed outdoor activities with her late husband, Myron L. Staples, whom she married in 1939. Mrs. Staples is survived by a son, Mylon Staples and his wife, Patty, of Penobscot; two grandchildren, Chrys Staples and his wife, Susan, of Mississippi and Troy Staples and his wife, Toni, of Penobscot; two stepgrandchildren, Tiffany Farley of Penobscot and Matt Farley of Swans Island; five great-grandchildren, Megan Staples, Chelsey Staples, Austin Willie Staples, Taylor Staples and Logan Staples. She was predeceased by her husband, Myron L. Staples, July 7, 1987. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at South Penobscot Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Phillips officiating. Interment will be at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill. Donations in her memory may be made to the South Penobscot Baptist Church, P.O. Box 5, Penobscot, ME 04476.
