QUINCY, Mass. – Phyllis Isabel (Hogan) Bacon, 79, of Quincy, Mass., formerly of Brownville Junction, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at the Quincy Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Brownville Junction, was educated there and was a graduate of the Brownville Junction High School. She has lived in Quincy for more than 20 years. In 1959, Mrs. Bacon moved to the Boston area where she became a certified practical nurse and had worked at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston and the Bowdin Nursing Home in Boston. She later worked as a home health aide and assistant to the elderly for the Upjohn Home Health Agency in Quincy until her retirement several years ago. She was a communicant of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish at St. Boniface Church in Quincy. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Senior Citizens, the St. John’s Senior Citizens and the Bells and Beaus. She also enjoyed the senior activities at her residence, 73 Bicknell St., and her many friends in the area. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert “Bert” Bacon; her parents, John and Mabel (Ryan) Hogan; sister, Mary DeWolfe; and brother, Harold J. Hogan. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth H. “Betty” Doiron and her husband, Robert P. Doiron, of Rumford; several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish at St. Boniface Church, 26 Shed St., Quincy, Mass. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy.
