MADAWASKA – Priscilla Lavertu, 79, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 7, 1927, in St. David, the daughter of late Joseph and Wellena (Gervais) Chasse. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Norman Lavertu; her children, Allen M. and his wife, Nancy Dionne-Lavertu, Joyce J. Dechaine and husband, Michael and Andrea A. Brown and husband, David, all of Madawaska; her loving brothers, Norman C. Chasse and his wife, Rachael, of Madawaska, Gerald J. Chasse and his wife, Mary Ann, Lionel E. Chasse and his wife, Theresa, of Van Buren, Ronald E. Chasse and his partner, Denise Beaulieu, of Edmundston, New Brunswick; loving sisters, Marie Mae Vaillancourt of Van Buren, Omerine C. Cyr and her husband, Peter, of Caribou, Martha H. Lavertu and husband, Roger, of St. David, Nancy V. Corbin and husband, Richard, of Madawaska, Anne Y. Ray and husband, John, of Little Rock, Ark.; her dear sister-in-law, Theresa Chasse of Madawaska; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sons, James in 1969 and David in 1970; and her brother, Edward “Bee” Chasse in 1984. Mrs. Lavertu worked many countless hours helping her husband on their family farm. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and knitting. She cherished many fond memories with her nine loving grandchildren, Michelle, Mark, Nathan, Susan and Adam Lavertu, Andrew and Samuel Dechaine and Dylan and Paige Brown. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be truly be missed by her family and friends. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, and 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Michaud Funeral Home, 313 Main St., St. Agatha. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at St. Gerard’s Church, Grand Isle. Interment will be after the service at the St. Gerard’s Cemetery, Grand Isle.
