CARIBOU – Robert Murray Henderson, 86, died May 31, 2007, in Caribou. He was born June 2, 1920, in St. Francis, the son of George and Elizabeth (Mills) Henderson. Mr. Henderson served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion as well as a life member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW. He married Betty Jones, April 8, 1950. Mr. Henderson was employed by Commercial Credit Corporation for more than 32 years, retiring as office manager. He was a past member of the Caribou Kiwanis Club, where he served as lieutenant governor of the New England District. He was a 50-year member of Caribou Lodge No. 170 AF & AM, as well as a member of the Anah Temple Shrine. Murray was an avid snowmobiler and a member and past president of the Caribou Sno-Drifers and also a member of several other area snowmobile clubs. He was also part of a group that snowmobiled the length of the state many years ago. After his retirement he volunteered many hours at Cary Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Betty of Caribou; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale Robert and Beth Henderson of Caribou; one daughter, Jane Mastin of Pflugerville, Texas; one grandson, Christopher Mastin of Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at St. Pails Cemetery, St. Francis, at a date and time to be announced by Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou.
