MACHIASPORT – Richard “Dick” H. Packert Sr., 96, passed away Dec. 11, 2007, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 30, 1911, in Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late Richard A. and Marion (Gier) Packert. Dick received his bachelor’s degree from Colby College in 1932. He went on to Harvard where he completed his Masters of Business Administration in 1934. Dick was an avid fisherman. He loved the state of Maine and especially enjoyed spending time at his camp on Spednic Lake. He is survived by his son, Richard H. Packert Jr. and wife, Lucy, of Machiasport; grandchildren, John Packert, Christopher Packert and Kathryn McLaughlin; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine (Stiles) Packert, in 1988; and his second wife, Jeannie (Knecht) Packert, in 2002. Per Dick’s wishes there will be no services.
