COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Richard “Dickie” W. Dudley, 59, of Coconut Creek, Fla., passed away Jan. 3, 2005. He was born Sept. 21, 1945, the son of Winston and Marion Dudley. Although born in Connecticut, Dickie attended Presque Isle High School and graduated in 1964. There he met a classmate, Charlene Coury, who would later become his lifelong companion and wife. Dickie cultivated a large group of high school friends, among them: Wendell, Miff, Danny, Bobby, George, Jimmy and many others. He was an outstanding athlete and played high school basketball, soccer and baseball. After graduating, Dickie trained horses for one of the nation’s best known standardbred horse drivers, Billy Haughton. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; sister, Claudine, and brother-in-law, Maurice Blanchette of Houlton; mother-in-law, Aline Coury of Florida; sister-in-law, Linda Coury DuMont of Wilkes Barre, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mae (Coury) Gerrish of Presque Isle; five nephews, two nieces and four great-nephews.
