EASTON, Md., and NORTHEAST HARBOR – Richard Gordon Garrett, 80, of Easton, Md., died Aug. 18, 2007, in Northeast Harbor. He was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Dallas, son of Pearson Beverly and Ruth Evens Garrett. Richard graduated from Princeton University in 1947 and Yale Law School in 1952. He practiced law in New York City and Easton, Md., for more than 50 years. He served his country at the end of World War II in India, as part of the Ambulance Corps of the American Field Service and later in Berlin, as a civil administrator during the Soviet Blockade. He was an avid golfer and hunter, enjoyed playing chess and loved to cook. Richard was a member of the Maryland Bar Association and the Yale Club of New York. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Sylvia Houghton Garrett of Easton, Md.; and two sons, David Garrett and Stephen Garrett and wife, Rachel, all of New York City. Richard was predeceased by a son, Michael Garrett; and a brother, Pearson Beverly “Jack” Garrett Jr. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor, with the Rev.
