PLEASANT POINT, PERRY – Richard Joseph Socabasin, 81, passed away Oct. 19, 2004, at a Calais hospital. He was born April 12, 1923, at Pleasant Point, Perry, the son of Samuel J. Dana and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Socabasin. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Cleaves, and a brother, Harold Socabasin. He is survived by a son, Kim Socabasin, Richard Jr. and his wife, Frances; daughters, Maria and Samantha; two grandchildren, Celeste and Kailyn; sister, Genevieve Neptun;, brother, Timothy Newell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family may call at his residence at Pleasant Point, Perry, Thursday and Friday Oct. 21 and 22. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Pleasant Point, Perry with Rev. Gaffey celebrant, interment in the Passamaquoddy Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements by the Flagg Funeral Home, Eastport.
