HARMONY – Rita Betsy (Marble) Taylor, 85, passed away July 16, 2007, at Redington-Fairview Hospital, Skowhegan, where she had been a patient for the past five days, after a brief illness. Rita was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Harmony, the daughter of Wallace and Elvira (Osberg) Marble. Rita graduated from Harmony High School in 1939. After graduation, she worked in the office of Bartlett’s Yarn Mill. Later she moved to Portland, where she was employed by Montgomery Ward for several years. On Jan. 12, 1946, Rita married Manson Taylor. For many years she was employed in the office of shoe shops in Harmony, Skowhegan and Dexter. Rita retired in 1985 from the office of Dexter Shoe, Dexter. Formerly, Rita belonged to Rebekah Lodge, Harmony; was a past president of VFW Auxiliary, Harmony; and a member of Skowhegan Auxiliary No. 3198. Upon retirement, Rita and Manson enjoyed their trips to Florida in the winter for several years. Survivors are her husband of 61 years, Manson of Harmony; a daughter, Bonnie Taylor of Harmony; a son, Scott Taylor and his wife, Maureen, of Parkman; two cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor and Christopher Taylor, both of Parkman; and a nephew, Donald R. Marble and his wife, Linda, of Leaksville, Miss. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Donovan Marble; and a beloved sister, Florence Marble Beaulier. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony.
