DEXTER – Robert B. Gilbert, 77, died Jan. 15, 2006, at a Dexter healthcare facility after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 9, 1928, at Dexter, a son of Reginald and Ellen (Ambrose) Gilbert. Bob graduated from N.H. Fay High School, Class of 1947, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and was a member of Cardinal Mercier Council No. 2625 Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Poulliot-Seavey Post No. 53 American Legion. He coached Little League baseball for a number of years and retired as warehouse manager at Dexter Shoe Company. He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Marie (Mountain) Gilbert of Dexter; two sons, Bruce and wife, Patty, of Dexter and Brian of North Yarmouth; a daughter, Laura Hall of Wiscasset; a brother, Douglas and wife, Theresa Gilbert, of Dexter; three grandchildren, Kendra Hall, Michael and wife, Melissa and Christopher Gilbert. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Roger; and a daughter-in-law, Diane. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Anne’s Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Father James Robichaud, officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
