ELLSWORTH FALLS – Robert “Bob” Hagan Cottle, 80, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, peacefully with his family by his side. He was born June 22, 1927, in Ellsworth, the son of Edward and Dorothy (Hagan) Cottle. He worked for 42 years as a surveyor for the state of Maine. He loved bowling, fishing, basketball and gardening. His favorite hobby was reading. Robert was a 50-year member of Lygonia Lodge No. 40, AF & AM. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Dinsmore and husband, Ronald, of Ellsworth; a sister, Elizabeth Carter and husband, Billy, of Ellsworth; two grandchildren, Robert Gordon and Jennifer Littlefield, both of Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren, Julia and Parker Littlefield of Ellsworth; two nieces, Alison Cowen and Jane Naimark; and three nephews, Bruce, Keith and Larry Carter. He was predeceased by his wife, Ferne, in 2006. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, conducted by the Rev. Emily Taylor. Spring burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ells-worth. Contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to Ellsworth Falls Congregational Church, P.O.
