WESTON – Robert C. Benn, 64, died Sept. 28, 2004, in Haynesville, doing what he enjoyed “being in the outdoors.” He was born Dec. 31, 1939, in Houlton, the son of Cecil and June (Rockwell) Benn. Robert was a member and president of the East Grand Snowmobile Club; a past director of the Linneus Sno-Sports; was currently the director of the Northern Maine Region Snowmobile Association; was a member of the Aroostook Riders ATV Club; was a life-member of the Southern Aroostook Trappers, the Maine Trappers Association and the NRA; a member of the Sports Alliance of Maine, Atlantic Salmon for Northern Maine; board member and secretary of the Chipulneticook Lakes International Conservancy Inc, and Houlton Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Peggy (Sawyer) Benn of Weston; was a loving father to his six children, Wayne and his wife, Jodi, of Wiscasset, Karen and her husband, Bryan Shaw, of Houlton, Allen and his wife, Lond Benn, of Berlin, Germany, Kathy Libby of Orono, Mark Benn of Connecticut, Karla and her husband, Tim Nightingale, of Brewer; grandfather to 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Bartlett of Littleton, Nancy and her husband, Larry Burton, of New Hampshire, Joanne Wilson of Houlton; one brother, Shirley “Butch” and his wife, Nancy Benn, of New Limerick; his mother-in-law, Ida Bradley; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Weston Cemetery with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating.
