BUCKSPORT – Robert H. Elliott, 83, died Feb. 14, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 8, 1922, at Island Pond, Vt., son of Henry D. and Roseanna (Marquis) Elliott. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served in the 1st Battalion 103rd Infantry and was honorably discharged August, 1945 as a staff sergeant. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1950, with a forestry degree, where he was very involved with many activities. While in college, he met Jane Anne Sibley of Wellesley, Mass. and they married Oct. 12, 1951. He and Jane continued to be involved and supportive of the University of Maine at Orono. He retired from St. Regis Paper Co., Bucksport, in June 1983, after many years of service. He was a longtime, active member of the Elm Street Congregational Church, Bucksport. He liked to read, play golf, socialize with his friends and had been active in several community groups. Bob is survived by nieces, Deanna Marken and her husband, Gerald Turcotte, of Lewiston and Lauretta Garrett and her husband, Charles, of Cusseta, Ga.; nephews, Rodney Elliott and his wife, Jan, of Oxford and David Elliott of Hollywood, Fla; several great-nieces and great-nephews; many wonderful friends, church members; and special care givers of People Pleasers, especially, Carolyn Brennan-Alley, Boo Upton and Kathy Patterson; his beloved young friends, Kelley and Alexander Bourgon and Rose Upton. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Jane Anne (Sibley) Elliott; three brothers, Gerald Elliott, Roger Elliott and Norman Elliott. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, at the Elm Street Congregational Church, with the Rev. Linda A. Smith, officiating. A gathering of conversation and refreshment will immediately follow at Brown Hall. Interment will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, R.I.
