DEXTER and PALMYRA Roger L. Ross, 74, died unexpectedly Dec. 6, 2006, at his Dexter residence. He was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Preston James and Violett (Bolduc) Ross. He was educated in schools in Waterville. Roger married Doris Waning Sept. 29, 1950, in Fairfield. He was employed as a carpenter and millwright working in Connecticut and Waterville. Roger enjoyed building and flying radio controlled model airplanes. He was an avid ham radio operator for many years. He was a longtime resident of Plamyra before moving to Dexter. For the past several years he had enjoyed working with his computer writing programs and establishing his own web site. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris V. Ross of Dexter; one son and his wife, James J. and Donna Ross of Dixmont; two daughters, Linda J. Frautten of Dexter and Marjorie A. Gumbs and her husband, James, of Ledyard, Conn.; five grandchildren, Todd, Angela, Jason, Jay and Bill; six great-grandchildren, Ellie, Kaleb, Jaymee, Sierra, L.J. and Kendall; two sisters, Betty Fuller and Florence Vincenzi, both of Waterbury, Conn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters and a brother, Dorine, Patsy and Ralph. Private family memorial services will be conducted Friday at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport.
