BROOKLYN, N.Y. and ORONO – Rosalie Chiert, 90, died peacefully Aug. 29, 2005, at an Orono assisted living facility. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter and youngest child of Abraham and Elizabeth (Strauss) Aaronson. She was a secretary in the New York City public school system for 35 years and an accomplished artist and calligrapher. Rosalie was loved for her cheerfulness, generosity and genuine warmth. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Downey and husband, Peter, of Bangor; granddaughter, Elizabeth of Philadelphia, Pa.; and four nephews. Neighbors and friends will remember her with love. Her husband of 55 years, Sidney and two brothers Irving and Milton predeceased her. Her family extends special thanks to the staff of Dirigo Pines for their superb care and comfort. Burial services were held in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Aug. 31, 2005. Donations in her memory may be made to the Eastern Agency on Aging, 450 Essex St., Bangor, ME 04101.
