LINCOLN – Roscoe Moore, 74, husband of Joyce Delano Moore, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Penobscot Valley Hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Grand Falls Plantation, the son of Roscoe Moore Sr. and Yensie Harriman Moore. He was a Mason and a member of the Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor. As a skilled craftsman, he and his brother Calvin co-owned Moore Brothers Construction. He was responsible for the building and renovation of many homes, schools, offices, hospitals, banks and stores in the area. He retired from Hannaford Brothers in 1995. He enjoyed his camp on the Big Narrows for 40 years and his hunting camp for 20 years, loving hunting and fishing with his wife, “who was a better fisherman than he was.” Since retirement, they have spent winters basking in the warm weather with wonderful friends in Sun City West, Ariz. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce; one son, Roscoe III and his wife, Cathie; of Massena, N.Y.; two grandsons, Roscoe IV of Plattsburgh, N.Y. and 2nd Lt. Andrew of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three brothers, Irvin and his wife, Marguerite, of Carmel, Atwood of Lincoln, and Lawrence of Orono; one sister, Gertrude Gaudette of Bangor; one brother-in-law, Harold Whitten of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was predeceased by his son, Terry; four sisters, Lila Whitten, Annie Emery, Lucille Rich and Grace Moore; and one brother, Calvin. Donations in his memory may be made to the swing bed program at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. At his request, a service will be at a later time at the convenience of the family.
