BIDDEFORD – Ryan J. MacKenzie, 21, of Biddeford, died May 4, 2004, in Georgia, as a result of an industrial accident. He was the son of Lori J. (Astle) MacKenzie of Biddeford, and the late James R. MacKenzie of Plymouth. The thought of Ryan reminds us of a beautiful and contagiously energetic, sensitive and thoughtful young man, a true and dependable friend always willing to share whatever he had or lend a hand to help his friends. Ryan was born in Biddeford on Dec. 6, 1982, attended Biddeford High School, where he was a stalwart hockey player for the Tigers, and was a 2001 graduate of Nokomis Regional High School in Newport. Ryan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2003. Most recently Ryan proudly and with distinction employed his skills as an iron worker and boiler maker on many commercial and industrial projects, including Cianbro’s recently completed off-shore drilling platform in Portland. Ryan is survived by his mother of Biddeford; a sister, Sara MacKenzie of New York City; his maternal grandparents, Donna and Weldon Astle of Millinocket; his paternal grandparents, Christie and Gerald MacKenzie of Plymouth; aunts, uncles, cousins and many caring friends. Just by being himself, Ryan touched us deeply in ways that are indescribable by words. We will carry him in our hearts. We will miss him and his wonderful eyes that spoke so much. Peace be with you Ryan, love from us all. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Laurel Hill Cemetery Chapel, 293 Beach St., Saco, with the Rev. Kenneth D. Keating of Shapleigh officiating. Arrangements are through the LaFrance-Lambert Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. To send a message of condolence, please visit www.lafrancelambert.com.
