JENSEN BEACH, Fla. Sharon, 63, died March 1, 2007, with her loving family at her side at her home. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 19 months ago and managed her care, with the support of her family and friends, determined to enjoy her remaining time. Sharon was born in Wolfeboro, N.H., and lived her childhood in Easton. She graduated from Easton High School in 1961. After graduation, she earned her licensed practical nurses’ license at Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, Presque Isle. In 1965 she moved to Springfield, Vt., where she began her 41-year nursing career as an operating room technician. Her son, Brett, was born shortly after her arrival in Springfield. Her Brett Charlie became the most important part of her life and she loved him immensely. Perhaps the only relationship that might rival the love of her son was her love for his wife, Margaret and granddaughter, Alex. In turn, Margaret and Alex loved their Grammie dearly. In 1995 Sharon found Jensen Beach, Fla., to provide all those qualities that she held dear. She enjoyed everything about the ocean, marine life and every shell on the beach. Most importantly, she found employment at Martin Memorial Medical Center and co-workers, who soon became her treasured friends. Sharon is survived by her brothers, Fred and his wife, Jane, of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Oliver and his wife, Gayle, of Charlotte, Vt.; her nephews, Nathan Gardner of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Jonathan Gardner of Jensen Beach, Fla., were very dear to her. Sharon also leaves behind aunts, Lois Fisher and Louella Laro; uncles, Viven and Claude Gardner; and numerous cousins, all of whom were very important to her. She was predeceased by her parents, Madeline and Charles F. Gardner of Easton. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held 6 p.m. March 17, at 4 Seasons Garden Center, Williston, Vt. A celebration was held March 5, in Jensen Beach, Fla. Her ashes will be spread on the beach at Stocking Island, Great Exuma, Bahamas, after a private ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madeline Gardner Care Fund for Children, care of Kim Hall, Easton School Department, P.O. Box 126, Easton, ME 04740.
