OTIS – Shirley A. (Madore) Morin, 79, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at an Ellsworth Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Old Town, daughter of the late Adelord J. and Doris E. (Kitchen) Madore. Shirley was a former employee of Sylvania as a wire bonder and of the Old Town Rubber plant. She worked for Bath Iron Works as a ship welder during the war and for various local shoe shops in the Old Town area as a handsewer. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed arts, crafts, knitting, crocheting and was a former owner of her own craft store. Music was a big part of her life, especially playing the guitar and listening to country music. She was a people-person and will be remembered by many for her excellent cooking skills. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 53 years, Alexander “Ty”; son, Richard Robishaw of Newburgh; daughters, Gerri Ziegler of California, and Patty Miles of Greenbush; grandchildren, Alex Ziegler, Lesley Robishaw, Donna and Rick Miles; great-granddaughters Taylor and Rehamer; three brothers, Donnie Madore of Bucksport, Delores Madore of Old Town and Bucky Madore of Glenburn; sister, Elaine Rideout of Glenburn; and many special nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Donna; brothers, Larry Madore and Bobby Madore; and two sisters, Kay Chabe and Patty Gallant. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Parish in Old Town with the Rev. Normand Richard celebrant. Committal prayers will be conducted at St. Joseph Cemetery in Old Town following the Mass. Friends and family are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall immediately following the burial for a luncheon and continued fellowship.
