HOLDEN and ADDISON Sylvia Marie (Christensen) Lamson, 85, formerly of Addison, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 31, 1922, in Yarmouth, the first of five children of Einar Ollegaard and Hulda Emilie (Christensen) Christensen. After graduating from North Yarmouth Academy, she briefly studied bookkeeping at Gray’s Business College and then nursing at Maine General Hospital School of Nursing. She went to New Haven, Conn., where she was an airplane instrument-panel inspector during World War II. On June 19, 1943, in New Haven, Conn., she married Byron Austin Lamson of Addison. In 1945, they moved to Addison, then in 1950, to North Yarmouth and returned to Addison in 1957. She was a housewife; then a teacher’s aide at Addison Elementary Schools 1966-67; Addison Town Tax Collector, 1972-73; and a bookkeeper for Ridge Dairy. She enjoyed sewing, hiking, reading, gardening, exploring, crocheting and playing piano. In 2000, she and Byron moved to Weld, and in 2006 she moved to Holden. Sylvia is survived by her four children; son, Darryl and Sharon (Schmidt) Lamson of Warrensburg, Mo.; daughter, Diana and Joseph Demers of Weld; daughter, Donna and William Price of Scotia, N.Y.; and daughter, Debra and Stephen Heathcote of Holden. Her nine living grandchildren and their families include, Dawn (Demers) and Harvey Solomon, and daughters, Amanda and Allison Cummings, of Norway; A. Elizabeth (Demers) and David Harcus, and daughter, Faith Harcus, of James-town, N.C.; Daniel and April (Roberts) Demers, and step-daughter, Aaren Boggs, of Huntersville, N.C.; Joseph and Shoshana (Congelosi) Demers of Cornelius, N.C.; Jennifer (Price) and Jason Fuller, and son, Merrick Fuller, of Gardiner, Mass.; David Price of Louisville, Ky.; Stephanie (Heathcote) and Joshua Bickford, and sons, Gavin and Shiloh Bickford, of Brewer; Holly Heathcote of Holden; and Samuel Heathcote of Vajta, Hungary. Sylvia is also survived by her brothers, Victor Christensen of Dover, Del., and Glendon Christensen of Ledyard, Conn.; sister, Linda Cummings of Macungie, Pa.; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by granddaughter, Suzanne Demers, in 1970; her father, in 1986; her mother, in 1990; her sister, Gloria Christensen, in 2004; and her husband, in 2006. After cremation, she will be interred beside her husband at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton. A memorial service for Sylvia and Byron is planned in Addison later this year.
