CANFIELD, Ohio and VAN BUREN – Theresa M. Fields, 93, died Jan. 14, 2005, at an Austintown, Ohio nursing home. She was born Oct. 31, 1911, at Eagle Lake, the daughter of George and Melvina (Simard) Michaud. She was educated in Eagle Lake schools and was a 1930 graduate of the Madawaska Training School in Fort Kent and a 1932 graduate of the Aroostook State Normal School in Presque Isle. Mrs. Fields taught school for 23 years in the Van Buren (SAD No. 24) school system. She and her husband, Roy Fields, also owned and operated the Van Buren Tastee Freeze restaurant for a number of years. She is survived by one son, Louis Pelletier of Vacaville, Calif.; two daughters, Theresa Annette Avilez and her husband, Robert, of Austin, Pa., and Claire Majernik and her husband, John, of Canfield, Ohio; one sister, Annette McManus of Skowhegan; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph R. Pelletier in 1951; and by her second husband, Roy Fields in 1968. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the St. Bruno Cemetery.
