BOYLSTON and WORCESTER, Mass. – Thomas M. Record, 66, of 42 Coburn Ave., Worcester, Mass., formerly of Boylston, Mass., died Monday, June 26, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Maine. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Atty. Paul and Mary (Mullarkey) Record and was raised in South Weymouth, Mass. He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School, Braintree, Mass. and played on its championship football teams. He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1962. He received a master’s degree from Suffolk University and attended the University of Oklahoma Law School. He also received a Farrier Certificate from the University of Oklahoma. Thomas taught for more than 25 years in the Boston public school system, retiring in 1996. Previously, he worked for many years as a pharmaceutical sales representative and throughout his high school and college career, he worked for the Boston Globe. He was an active member of the Boston Teachers’ Union and was assigned to South Boston High School during the desegregation of the Boston public schools. He was active in local and national political campaigns, the most recent being the Howard Dean for president campaign. He was also an avid college football fan. Upon retirement, he spent his time between the Worcester, Mass. area and Patten, near Baxter State Park, where he owned and operated Record Sports Cabins in Patten. He leaves his wife, Marie A. (Tuholski) Record of Boylston, Mass.; two sons, T. Michael Record of Worcester, Mass. and Brian D. Record of Somerville, Mass.; a daughter, Julianna Record of Boylston, Mass.; three brothers, James Record of Hanson, Mass., John Record of Rehoboth, Mass. and Paul Record of Auburn, Mass.; a grandson, Delton Record of Worcester, Mass.; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, Mass. Thomas’ funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, with a Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, Mass. Burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston, Mass., after the service.
