ELLSWORTH – Venetia D. Rosie, 80, a long time resident of Ellsworth, died July 28, 2004, at a Bangor assisted living home. She was born March 9, 1924, the daughter of David J. and Grace B. (Edgerly) Duty. She was a graduate of Bangor High School and attended Maine School of Commerce in Bangor. Venetia was a past president and member of the Rotary-Anns of Ellsworth. She had been a volunteer at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth for many years. Her love of nature and the Maine woods began in her early life spending summers at Spencer Pond in Greenville and later she enjoyed spending her summers with her family at Craig Pond in Orland. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne O’Donnell and husband, Claude, of Holden, Janie Crowell and husband, Ted, of Carrabassett Valley; a sister, Natalie Yates of Trenton; four grandchildren, Joshua O’Donnell and wife, Kimberly, Katrina O’Donnell Hannan and husband, Edward, A. K. Cardoza and wife, Michelle, and Mollie Voter and husband, Stephen; one great-granddaughter, Paris Rosie Hannan; a sister-in law, Joan F. Rosie of Bangor and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, of 57 years, Robert E. Rosie, August 2003. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at the Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth.
