BANGOR – Vilma “Vimmie” Graham, 84, of Bangor, passed away Aug. 13, 2005, at Westgate Manor. She was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Bangor, the daughter of Frederick and Muriel (Oquist) Hansen. Vilma graduated from Bangor High School in 1939. She married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Graham, in 1939 and they enjoyed 36 years together until his death in 1975. Vilma worked for many years as a custom book binder at the Dillingham Book Bindery and upon retirement, was working at the Eastern Maine Medical Center. She was a Deaconess at the First Congregational Church in Brewer. She was a loving wife and mother who gave unconditionally of herself and her wisdom in every family crisis. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved their nana and big nana. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, travel and country music. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, in 1975, and her brother, Sydney, in 2005. She is survived by her eight children, Rebecca and husband, David, of Palmetto, Fla., Winnifred of Bradenton, Fla., William and his wife, Theresa, of St-Georges, QC, David of Glenburn, Constance and her husband, Jack, of Eddington, Jacqueline of Hampden, Judith and her husband, Norman, of Hermon, and Kathryn and her husband, George, of Orrington; brother, Wilfred and his wife, Linda, of Centreville, Va.; sister, Shirley, of Bangor; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Vilma and her family were always appreciative of the loving care she received from the wonderful personnel at Westgate Manor. Graveside memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101-2406.
