KERMIT, Texas – A Story of Love…This story begins June 21, 1924, when Virg was born, the daughter of Roy Leon Kelley and Olive Agnes Wright Kelley in Caribou. She with her older sister Hazel, and her younger brother Gary were raised in a loving, God fearing, Christian home. They regularly accompanied their mother to church and remained actively involved in church throughout her childhood and completion of high school. During this period of her life she developed into a truly beautiful woman. She was known for her love of gospel music and continued to use her God given voice her entire lifetime to influence her children, family and friends, in church, prayer meetings, and most importantly, at home. She met and married her one true love, her “Darlin” Roger Deforest Fosdick, a handsome young airman in the U.S. Air Force, on Aug. 6, 1959. While Roger continued to work in Civil Service, Virg and the boys helped him work the land, tend to milk cows, chickens, horses, vegetable and flower gardens, and other farming chores. Whether laughing as Jeff released a stud horse in spring, or as Roger II fell down a flight of stairs (impersonating a Flip Wilson character), or mixing a “Hot Tottie” for a sick pig, she kept the family going. She was instrumental in seeing each of her boys grow physically and spiritually. When all of them went to church or to play softball, all they needed was a preacher or an umpire. At times they needed both. In 1989, Virg and Roger moved to Kermit, Texas, where her son Jeff Lajoie and his wife, Connie helped them remodel and settle into their new home at 424 Oaklawn. They regularly attended church at the Assembly of God or Church of God of Prophecy. Their days always included a time of personal prayer and devotions each morning together. She enjoyed working with Roger on the daily crossword puzzles and Jumbles. The daughter of a Prayer Warrior, she too became one. She prayed everyday, faithfully for each of her sons, their wives, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, calling to
