LINCOLN – Vivian Emily (Bean) Thornton, 86, died Aug. 22, 2007, in Lincoln. She was born April 23, 1921, in Topsfield, the daughter of Ralph W. and Annie (Chubbuck) Bean. She married Alton Thornton, July 4, 1954. Vivian lived most of her adult life in Millinocket, where she was active in the Onowa Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron and grand representative to British Columbia and the Yukon, Canada. She spent the last years of her life as a resident of Colonial Acres Nursing Home, Lincoln. She will be lovingly remembered by her large extended family for her beautiful smile, her sense of humor, her generosity and her cooking. She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Brown and her fianc?, Thomas Chadwick, of Bangor; a granddaughter, Nora and her husband, Thomas Kittrick Jr., of New Hampshire; two great-grandchildren, Jaimyn and Devin Kittrick; one sister-in-law, Gladys Bean of Bangor; two cousins, Maurice and Rose Bean, both of Topsfield; special nieces, Bonnie Bean of Lincoln and Dixie Curtis of Vermont; two great-nephews, Leon Moores of Maryland, and Larry Dean Moores of Virginia and their families. She was “Aunt Fidy” to 36 much-loved nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by all eight of her brothers and sisters; her husband, Alton; and a precious granddaughter, Sarah. Graveside services, officiated by her nephew, the Rev. Ronald Bean of Virginia, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Old Topsfield Cemetery.
