HARTLAND, N.B., Canada Wallace Harold Gallop, 79, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his home. Mr. Wallace was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Thomaston, Conn., the son of the late Harold Gordon and Dortha Jane (Wright) Gallop. He was the husband of Wesselina M. (Ris) Gallop. Mr. Gallop attended Euclid Shore High School in Euclid, Ohio from 1941-1943, but graduated from Fort Fairfield High School and Post Junior College in Waterbury, Conn. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a rural mail carrier in Bethlehem, Conn. from 1958-1983. He was the founder of the Litch – Haven Babe Ruth League and was president of the league for more than 22 years. He coached Bethlehem Babe Ruth for 23 years. He was founder of the Bethlehem Recreation Committee. He was the treasurer and manager of the Watertown Comm. Federal Credit Union and was class president of the Northeast Credit Union School, University of New Hampshire. He was a life member of the American legion Post 146 in Bethlehem and had served as it commander from 1977-1978, and he was the Connecticut sixth district American legion commander in 1979. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 6187 in Fort Fairfield. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Gregory L. Gallop of Thomaston, Conn., Geoffrey A. Gallop of Waterbury, Conn.; five daughters, Bonnie L. Gallop of Plymouth, Conn. Brenda R. Schaller of Bishopville, Md., Sheila M. Gallop of Brewer, Patti A. Sasse of Raleigh, N.C., Carla R. Gallop of Waterbury, Conn.; a brother, Lawrence Gallop of Fort Fairfield; sister, Audry Neligh of Hope, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, and one great-grand-child. He was predeceased by a son, Gordon Gallop. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, at the Church of the Nativity, East Street, Bethlehem, Conn. Burial with full military honors will be held at the Bethlehem Cemetery.
