MEDDYBEMPS – Winifred Arline Doten Elsemore passed away July 4, 2007, at her residence. She fought a courageous battle with cancer since 2003. She was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Calais, daughter of Jerry Smith Doten and Winifred May Preston Doten of Baring. Winifred worked at Ware Knitters Cooperation, Calais, until her retirement in 1986. Winifred enjoyed cooking, sewing and just being around family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Merle Victor Elsemore; sisters, Martina Howling, Inez Frost and Thelma Moreshead; and brothers, Otis Doten, Clyde Doten, Mickey Doten, Bernard Doten and Norman Doten. Those who survive her are her daughters, Pamela A. Ramsdell of Meddybemps and Donna Cox and friend, Ed, of Topsham; her sister, Evelyn Johnson of Baring; three very special sisters-in-law, Margaret Campbell, Arlene McLaughlin, both of Baileyville, and Muriel Doten of Baring; special brother-in-law, George Moreshead of Calais; grandsons, Peter Frost of Meddybemps, and Tony Ramsdell and family of Princeton; granddaughters, Tammy Kelley and family of Caribou, and Wendy Faust and family of Japan; many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren on both sides. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
