JONESPORT – Winona Marilyn (Alley) Urquhart, 86, went home to be with her Lord Monday, July 10, 2006. She was born March 29, 1920, in Jonesport, the daughter of Edmund N. and Blanche (Foster) Alley. Winona served in the WAC during World War II and met her first husband, George Chamberlain, while stationed in Brooklyn, N.Y. After raising her family, she began a second career in the Child Placement Office in New York City. She moved back to Maine in 1976 and later married Allan Urquhart. The last few years of her life were spent at Sunrise Care Facility in Jonesport. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara J. Smith and husband, Raymond, of Jonesport; a sister, Eileen White of Belfast; granddaughters, Bethany Robinson of Lisbon Falls, Alissa Dye and husband, Michael, of Ellicot City, Md.; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Robinson; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by husbands, George and Allan; a daughter, Beverly Dochendorff; a sister, Jane Alley; and brothers, Loren and Foster Alley. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the United Pentecostal Church, Route 187, Indian River Road, Jonesport, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 13.
