MARY LOUISE (HOLLAND) RENSKI – CHERRYFIELD – Mary Louise (Holland) Renski, 92, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at an Ellsworth health care facility. She was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Whitneyville, daughter of the late William James and Mary Catherine (Murphy) Holland. Mrs. Renski was educated in the Machias school system and received her formal education at Maine Medical Center, Portland, acquiring her degree as a registered nurse. She worked in various hospitals in Portland, Bath and Machias. She was one of the nurses in charge of the Cutler Navy Base Project. In addition to working as an RN at numerous hospitals, she also did private duty nursing. She and her husband, Henry C. Renski owned and operated Henry’s Grocery, Cherryfield, for more than 30 years. Mary enjoyed communicating with people and was a wonderful listener. She was a great person to be around. Mary was a communicant of Holy Name Catholic Church, Machias and St. Michael Church, Cherryfield, for many years. She was a strong advocate for promoting education with her family. She shared 43 years of marriage with the late Henry C. Renski, who died in 1983. Family members include a daughter, Cynthia Kelley and her husband, Gordon, of Cherryfield; a son, Charles H. Renski and his wife, Marcela, of Harrington; grandchildren, Giselle Robertson, NP and husband, Nicholas, of Surry, Gina Y. Wright and husband, Mark, of Columbia, Henry C. Renski, Ph.D., and wife, Marney Pratt Ph.D., of South Hadley, Mass., Marcy L. Renski of Detroit, Sheridan Kelley of Bangor, Jude Kelley, Ph.D., and his wife, Wendy Marsh, M.D., of Sutton, Mass., and Candace Kelley of Oakland; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Caroline, Blake, Dexter, Chase and Kaylee; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by an infant son at birth, Errold Francis Renski. She was also predeceased by her brothers, William, Michael and Joseph Holland. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Cooper Street, Machias. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Machias, with Father Eugene Gaffey, principal celebrant, presiding.
