NORTHPORT – Eunice D. Schleicher, 83, died Sept. 30, 2008, in Belfast. She was born March 15, 1925, in Monroe, the daughter of Henry and Georgia (Roberts) Cunningham. She and her husband, Fred owned and operated Northport Cafe for many years. They were antique dealers owning the Pink House. She retired from the State of Maine Department of Human Services. Eunice will be remembered for making many local wedding cakes. She was a founding member of Belfast Curling Club and an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She will be remembered for always caring for others, her love for gardening and making sure others enjoyed her produce. In her later years, she always participated in her grandchildren’s activities, being very supportive. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred in 1971; a son, Frank in 1999; also 10 brothers and sisters, Isabelle, Bessie, Inez, Iva, Esther, Priscilla, Horace, Charles, Henry and Harlan. She is survived by three children, John Schleicher and wife, Nancy, of Damariscotta, Jeff and wife, Jackie, of Northport, and Steve Schleicher of Northport; two sisters, Phyllis Larby and Patricia Neally; and four grandchildren, James and Sarah Schleicher, Kristen, Matthew and Tommy. Also a special thank you to Alan Hayward, a great friend of Eunice. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. A Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Those friends that wish may make memorial contributions to Waldo County Hospital Silver Tee.
