MADAWASKA – Carroll Bagley, 82, died Oct. 5, 2008, at a Frenchville health care facility. He was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Berlin, N.H., the son of John and Margaret (Hogan) Bagley. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars, and received a Purple Heart and Medal of Valor. He also worked as a deportation officer for the U.S. military. He was a member of Thomas O. Cyr Legion Post No. 147 of Madawaska. After his service in the U.S. armed forces, he worked as a U.S. immigration officer in Washington, D.C., as well as in various international ports in Maine. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Beaulieu) Bagley of Madawaska; two sons, Michael Bagley and his wife, Ann, of New Gloucester, and John Bagley of Rockland; one sister, Marguerite Lafrance of Laconia, N.H.; four grandsons, Christopher, Brandon, Thomas and Evan Bagley; two stepdaughters, Diane Driscoll and Danielle Woodward; and one stepgrandson, David Woodward. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Church, Madawaska. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
