HANCOCK – Eric Andrew Murdie, 27, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, surrounded with the love of his wife and family in his home, after fighting a strong battle with a brain tumor. He began his life Aug. 29, 1981, in Gouverneur, N.Y., the son of Cindy A. (Gollinger) and Reginald L. Murdie. Eric was a passionate Toronto Maple Leafs, LA Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys fan. He grew up in upstate New York, which gave him his love for the outdoors. He, his father and uncles, hunted every year from the time he was a young boy and he often “hogged” all the best deer. His passion for the outdoors eventually led him to move to the Acadia National Park area, where he met his wife, and where he enjoyed hiking the surrounding mountains. He was an avid lover of music, especially Godsmack, evident by his sun tattoo and bearded dragon named after the band’s leader, Sully. He also loved to travel and in the last six years was fortunate to visit Spain, Italy, Hawaii, Disney World, Toronto, the Midwest, Washington, D.C. and Boston. And even though some of these trips were brought on by medical circumstances, they were all adventures of a lifetime. Eric was loved by everyone he met. He touched so many lives with his contagious laughter and sharp humor. He is survived by his wife, Sadie (Mawhinney) Murdie; parents, Reggie and Cindy Murdie; sisters, Nicole, and Melissa and her fianc?, Brent Deso; his fraternal grandparents, Roger and Lucy Murdie; maternal grandparents, William and Lillian Gollinger; many, many, many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins, and his extended in-law parents and siblings in Maine and Indiana. Services will be held in Maine and New York. Calling hours will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, with a service directly after. There will be calling hours 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12; and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Lawerence Funeral Home, Canton, N.Y. The funeral ceremony will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Canton United Methodist Church with the burial immediately after at Fair View Cemetery.
