MILLINOCKET – Fred J. Pasquine Sr., 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, surrounded by his family at Millinocket Regional Hospital. Fred was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for 27 years at Great Northern Paper Co., as a stone mason. He belonged to St. Martin’s Council No. 680, Knights of Columbus, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1521, Millinocket, Francis Stinson Post No. 4154, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Fred was a thoughtful and caring person, who loved family get-togethers, Italian food, watching and following all sports, especially New England teams, playing Bocci Ball and dancing. Fred enjoyed big band music, especially Glenn Miller. He was an especially proud grandfather, who thought the world of his grandchildren. Fred is survived by six children, Judy Waltz and her husband, Harold, of Millinocket, Billy Frisbie and his wife, Joanie, of Rumford, Fred J. Pasquine Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Millinocket, Elaine Manzo and her husband, Norm, of Winslow, Sharon Michaud of Greenville, S.C., and Tammy Kaspala and her husband, Richard, of Surry; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Fidel Gallant and his wife, Marion, of Canada; two sisters, Pauline George and Grace Meehan; three sisters-in-law, Rita Gallant, Beverly Gallant and Geraldine Pasquine; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rita H. (Gallant) Pasquine, Sept. 20, 2008; a grandson, Matthew J. Pasquine; a son-in-law, Steve Michaud; two sisters, Angie Viola and Helen McKinnon; and two brothers, Nicholas and Peter Pasquine. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a prayer service will be held 7 p.m., conducted by the officers and members of St. Martin’s Council No. 680, Knights of Columbus. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket. Interment with military honors will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
