RALPH E. MOORE

RALPH E. MOORE – MACHIASPORT – Ralph E. Moore, 74, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, after a period of failing health. He was born Nov. 14, 1933, in Machias, son of the late Arthur W. and Roxana D. (Johnson) Moore. Mr. Moore graduated from Machias High School, Machias, where he was a standout basketball player. Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country during the Korean War. Ralph worked for Champion Wood Co., for many years as a cutter and also worked many log drives on Machias River. He later became involved in the Civil Service at Cutler Navy Base, where he was employed for 22 years. Mr. Moore enjoyed deer hunting in Northfield and Wesley. He shared 44 years of marriage with Joan (Kennedy) Moore of Machiasport. In addition to his wife, family members include a stepdaughter, Evelyn Smith; a stepgranddaughter, Jordan Smith; two brothers, James Moore of Weymouth and Richard Moore of Florida; a sister, Pauline Roesch of Machias; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
