BELFAST – Vera (Towers) Warren, 78, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, surrounded by family at her home, after battling with cancer. She was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Knox, the daughter of Harold Towers and Ava (Bailey) Towers. Vera grew up in Belfast and lived in many parts of Maine, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey throughout her life. She spent 19 years as a devoted employee of Sears Roebuck. Vera was a loving grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, talking politics, reading and laughing. She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Mildred Gott. Surviving is her daughter, Judith Nortrup and fiance, Ricky, of Bangor; son, Joseph Warren and fiancee, Melanie, of Searsport; sisters, Flora Towers of Bucksport and Margaret Kinney and husband, Clint, of Gardiner; and brother, Robert Towers and wife, Thelma, of Chelsea. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Fitzgerald, Jonathan Warren and wife, Tonya, Miranda and Patrick Hazelnut, and Gloria Warren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Vera’s home in Belfast.
