SCARBOROUGH – Mark’s life of medical struggles with Angelman Syndrome and seizures ended Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, however, the memory of his pure love will endure for a long, long time. Mark was born in Houlton, and lived in Houlton, Presque Isle, and Fairfield at Klearview Manor and in the Portland area, mostly at 19 Colony Lane, run by Port Resources. Mark went to school in Albion until his high school years, which he spent at South Portland High School. Everyone who knew Mark Roach in his 31 years of life felt enriched just being around him. His wide grin held so much delight at seeing his family, friends and people who worked with, and tended to him so lovingly. His father, Dale Roach of Scarborough and his mother, Gail Roach Doughty Rowe of Bangor, are forever grateful for the wonderful care so many people have given their “angel.” Mark is survived by his father and stepmother, Dale and Pat Roach of Scarborough; his mother, Gail Roach (Wortman) Doughty Rowe of Bangor; his sister and brother-in-law, Storm and Brad Kelso and their children, Drew, Kassidy, Grace and Ava, of Vassalboro; and his stepsister, Paula Brown of Scarborough. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special friend of many years, Everett Hoar of Portland. He was predeceased by stepsister, Susan Bishop. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Independent Death Care Memorial Chapel, 471 Deering Ave., Portland, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Dale and Gail would prefer donations be made to Port Resources, in memory of Mark Roach, 125 John Roberts Road, Suite 12, South Portland, ME 04106.
