LAMOINE – Richard Lyman “Dick” Linscott, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully Nov. 13, 2008, in Ellsworth. He was born May 22, 1926, in Hancock, the son of Lyman and Phyllis (Brenton) Linscott. Dick graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1944 and joined the Army Air Corps prior to graduation, serving in the European Theatre in France during World War II. He worked at Hancock Wholesale Tobacco, many years with Ackerman Hardware and retired from Ellsworth Builders Supply. Later he was self-employed doing carpentry. Dick was a 50-year member and past master of Lygonia Lodge No. 40 and past commander of Frank E. Whitmore American Legion Post. He also served on the Lamoine School Board. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn of Lamoine; sons, Jeffrey and wife, Pam, of Gouldsboro and Mark and wife, Teresa, of Lamoine; granddaughters, Kelsey of Bangor, Lauren of Trenton and Nichole of Gorham; a great-grandson, Alexander; stepgrandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Alley and families; sisters, Beverly DeWitt, Esther Closson, Dorothy Small, Patricia DeWitt and husband, Edward, all of Ellsworth; sister-in-law, Katherine Rainey of Fort Kent; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Leslie. A Masonic graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lamoine.
