BRADLEY – It is with great sadness that Makayla announces the death of her favorite uncle, Francis A. Brooks, 60, who died peacefully and unexpectedly, Dec. 18, 2008, in his sleep at his residence. He was born July 10, 1948, in Bradley, a son of Francis M. and Georgianna M. (Young) Brooks. Francis was a graduate of Old Town High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Beal College. He then went on to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 3381 of Old Town. Francis loved to thrift shop and was known for his regifting. His family was very proud that for the past two years Francis had overcome several demons that had haunted him for years. He is survived by two sisters, Ida Clarke and her husband, Russell, of Malone, N.Y., and Rose Marie Brooks of Bradley; nieces and nephews, Christopher Clarke and his wife, Jimmy Joy and their children, Devon, Jakob and Brandt; Matthew Clarke and his significant other, Julie Rushford and her daughter, Kylie, all of New York; Wendi Kobylarz and her husband, Joe and their children, Samuel, Tyler and Zachary of South Carolina; Casey Brooks and his wife, Krissi and their daughter, a very special great-niece, Makayla Rose of Bradley; special cousins, Betty Brooks, Al Heald, Crystal Peavey and Marva Cote; and special friends, Maria Desrosiers, Barbie Leonard, Randy LeBretton, Deedy and Nathaniel Birmingham. At Francis’ request, there will be no services at this time. Services will be announced in the spring.
