BANGOR – Peggy L. (York) Quimby, 65, died Feb. 4, 2009, surrounded by her family, after a three-year, courageous battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 26, 1943, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Kenneth R. and Leida O. (Garrison) York. Peggy spent her childhood in Castine and graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1962. She had been employed with St. Joseph Hospital for 15 years. Surviving are eight children, Richard K. Fowler and his wife, Marie, of Greene, Trudy McLeod of Bangor, David Fowler Jr. of Arizona, Terri Fowler and her fiance, Bruce Colburn, of Glenburn, Lisa Dorr of Levant, Wayne Quimby of Bangor, David Quimby of Brewer, and Beth Cottrell and her husband, Josh, of Brewer; 11 grandchildren, Danielle, Ellayna and Taylor Fowler, Megan McLeod, Shane and Ashley Fowler, Lyndsi and Jacob Dorr, Alex Quimby, Sedona and Ali Cottrell; one brother, Rudy York and his wife, Judie, of Bucksport; one sister, Carole Terrell and her husband, Eldon “Buster,” of Blaine; a sister-in-law, Beverly Sargent of East Corinth; a brother-in-law, Lynwood Quimby and his wife, Cathy, of Glenburn; many nieces, nephews and friends, including a special lifelong friend, Brenda Rogerson. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, John W. Quimby. Relatives and friends are invited to call 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
