CHICAGO – Henrietta Boal Moore passed away March 12, 2009. She was a community activist in Maine and Chicago, and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend of many. Born Dec. 8, 1915, the child of Ayres Boal and Lesley Johnson Boal, Henrietta was the youngest and only girl in her Winnetka family. With three older brothers, Ayres Jr., Stewart and Thomas, she learned to hold her own from an early age. Henny graduated from North Shore Country Day School, Class of 1933, went to Vassar College and graduated in the Class of 1937, and married Chicago businessman Philip Wyatt Moore Jr., in 1938. Henny moved to East Orland in 1992, to be near her daughter, Lesley Ellen and be involved with the H.O.M.E. and St. Francis communities. Henny will be remembered for her wisdom and humor, as well as hosting gatherings at her home on Toddy Pond, reminding us often not to take ourselves too seriously. Her spirit and presence enriched our lives. Henny leaves five grown children, Tom of Australia, Phil of Michigan, Lucy of Oregon, Ayrie of Chicago and Lesley Ellen of East Orland; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 29, in the chapel at H.O.M.E. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to H.O.M.E., Inc., P.O. Box 10, Orland, ME 04472.
