OAKFIELD – Milford Leroy Richards, 79, died March 20, 2009, in Houlton. He was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Oakfield, the son of Dell and Margaret (Pratt) Richards. He graduated from Oakfield High School in 1949 and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea. Milford was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading. He is survived by one brother, Clyde and his wife, Edythe Richards, of Brewer; three sisters, Saddie Carmichael of Houlton, Kathleen Jones of Penobscot and Lila Sargent of Tampa, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and 11 siblings, Hjalmer, Liona, Alden, Lenora, Edrie, Vanessa, Clayton, Walter, Irene, Melvina and George “Teeny.” Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Morton officiating. Spring interment will be at Oakfield Cemetery.
