BANGOR, SOUTHWEST HARBOR and WINTERPORT – Sarah “Sally” (McClary) Dewey, of Wayland, Mass., died peacefully March 18, 2009, surrounded by her family. Sally was the wife of the late William R. Dewey III; mother of Andrew M. Dewey and his wife, Susan R., of Southwest Harbor, Sarah R. Dewey of Moose, Wyo., Katharine A. Sherburne and her husband, Stuart S., of Winterport and William R. Dewey IV and his wife, Susan M., of Sudbury, Mass.; grandmother of Zachariah A. and Hannah B. Dewey, Abigail J. and Helene A. Sherburne and Elizabeth A. and Emily H. Dewey; and sister of Mary-Martha Marshall of Mystic, Conn., and Susanna A. Smith of Windsor, Vt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Educated at Concord Academy and Smith College, and a 52-year resident of Wayland, Mass., Sally treasured her family and friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the Story Chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mount Auburn St., Cambridge, Mass.
