DEXTER – Stephen Arnold Sawyer, 49, passed away March 20, 2009, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his residence. He was born March 14, 1960, in Dexter, a son of Arnold and Glenda (York) Sawyer. He graduated from Dexter Regional High School, Class of 1978. He was employed for 18 years at Dexter Shoe Co., and later was employed at Toot’s Delicatessen, until his retirement due to failing health. Steve will be remembered as an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed coaching Little League in Dexter, as well as serving as timekeeper for high school soccer games for a number of years. He married the former Heidi Fanjoy. In addition to his wife of Dexter and parents of Harmony, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Reed of Harmony; two sons, Tyler of Bangor and Chad of Dexter; a brother, Vincent and wife, Tina, of Dexter; and a sister, Karen and husband, Richard Andrews, of Gorham; two nephews, Derek and Mitchell; and a niece, Avery. His family remembers him as a great dad that courageously battled his illness, especially in recent months as his condition worsened after surviving a lung transplant for nearly three years. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter. A spring graveside committal service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with the Rev.
