PRESQUE ISLE – Van T. Cyr, 81, died peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2009, surrounded by his family, after a short illness at The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle. He was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Joseph and Mary (Sears) Cyr. Van served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for 43 years at Maine Public Service, Presque Isle. He was a kind and generous man. Van enjoyed camping with his travel trailer, liked to hunt, fish and go for a walk in the woods. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Theresa (Albert) Cyr of Presque Isle; three sons, Donald J. of Lille, Van T. Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of St. Joseph, Mich., and David J. Cyr of Bangor; two daughters, Rosemary Cyr of Portland, and Theresa Talbot and her husband, Douglas, of Presque Isle; a brother, Aubrey Cyr of Indialantic, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Nicole Cyr, Van Cyr III, Christopher Cyr, McKenzie Talbot, Matthew Talbot and Jennifer Cyr. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jessica Cyr. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, where friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with military honors will be at North Main Street Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Musee Culturelle du Mont Carmel, P.O.
