HAMDEN, Conn. – Evelyn (Brown) Goldberg died March 22, 2009, in Hamden, Conn. She was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Abbot Village, the daughter of Ariel and Susie (Buck) Brown. She graduated from Bucksport Seminary and went on to attain her nursing degree from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing. While there, she met Dr. Samuel Goldberg Jr., which lead to their marriage at her parents home in Medford Center. They made their home in New Haven, Conn., where Dr. Goldberg had his private practice for many years with Evelyn assisting him. In retirement Dr. Goldberg became ill and Evelyn cared for him for the remainder of his life. Later she began to travel, taking many educational tours throughout the world. She retired to Whitney Center, Hamden, Conn., and enjoyed living there and especially holidays with her niece, Patricia King and husband, Rick. Evelyn was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Brennan. She is survived by sisters, Ima Brown and Carolyn Foster; brother, Armour Brown and wife, Loretta; five nieces and six nephews. A private service will take place at Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven, Conn.
