DEDHAM – Joy D. Gowen, 60, died peacefully May 23, 2009, at her home after battling cancer. She was born Dec. 21, 1948, in Ellsworth, daughter of Kenneth Tracey and Renee (August) Tracey Butler. She was employed at Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 30 years and after retiring she spent the last four years in Dedham. She was known for her Wal-Mart shopping, where she could often be seen. She loved doing ceramics and decorating her home for Christmas. It was her favorite time of year and her d?cor had to be perfect. Surviving are her husband of 22 years, Ike Gowen of Dedham; three children, Traci Paine and her husband, Gary Paine Jr., of Mariaville, Charles Clark and his wife, Dawn Clark, of Dedham and Tommy Beking of Biddeford; four grandchildren, Gary Paine III, Jessica and Jasmine Paine and Coley Clark; one brother, Kenneth Tracey; four sisters, Elona Tate of Bangor, Kathy Long of Oregon, Rosellen Walton of Connecticut and Cheryl Tracey of Bangor; a sister-in-law, Brenda Tripp and Al of Dedham; a brother-in-law, Earl Sanborn and his wife, Muriel, of Saco; several nieces and nephews. Her family gives a special thank you to her niece, Michelle Brown, for her help to ease her pain during her battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A graveside service honoring her life will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Hillside Cemetery, Route 46, East Bucksport. Condolences may also be offered at www.kileyandfoley.com.
