MILLINOCKET – Morris L. “Speedy” Gallant Sr., 87, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Millinocket, the son of Jeremiah and Emma (Babin) Gallant. Speedy was an Army veteran of World War II, and retired from Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, with 24 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Francis Elliot Post No. 4154, Veterans’ of Foreign Wars, Millinocket. Speedy was the last surviving member of his 11 siblings. He is survived by three children, Timmy Thibodeau of Au-burn, Joylene Leckington and her husband, Robert, of Mesa, Ariz., and “Lenny” Gallant of Millinocket; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and his siblings, Morris was predeceased by his wife, Electa (Thibodeau) Gallant. Graveside services with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 15, at Millinocket Cemetery.
