MARS HILL – Richard I. “Dick” Boyington, 86, died early Monday morning, June 22, 2009, at a Mars Hill health care facility. He was born March 11, 1923, in Prentiss, the son of Pitt Harrison and Lauretta (Clockedile) Boyington. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dick worked for Valshing and McCain Foods, Easton, for 25 years as a mechanic. He loved to go camping and spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Holmes) Boyington of Mars Hill; a son, Jeffrey of Mars Hill; two daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Wilfred “Willie” Forbes of Biddeford, and Lori and Peter Scovil of Presque Isle; and five grandchildren, Brian Forbes, Kyrra Mahaney, Nekko and Noah Boyington, and Elizabeth Winslow-Scovil. He was predeceased by a brother, Pitt Harrison Boyington Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene. A private graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, June 24, at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou, with the Rev. Matthew Maxwell officiating.
