Kevin Skinner — his name even has a country ring to it. The former chicken farmer might not be good at math, but his emotional performance brought tears to our eyes and reminds us all what America is really about.

I’ve said it before and as long as the show is on the air, I’m sure I’ll say it again, but “America’s Got Talent” truly does give us hope and inspiration that dreams really can come true. While we found ourselves disappointed that acts like the a cappella postal workers and singer Kari Callen weren’t sent on from Vegas to Hollywood, while others of less caliber made it through, there’s still plenty to keep us watching this season.

Marcus Terrell’s longtime friends and back-up singers stepped aside to give him the chance of a lifetime. Thirteen-year-old Arcadian Broad will live out his dancing dreams. And of course we’ll be watching Skinner as one of our favorites to win.

Also this week, “Bachelorette” Jillian Harris picked Ed Swiderski as her prince charming, and the couple isn’t wasting any time. The finale was taped in May, the couple secretly saw each other throughout the summer, and they’re planning to tie the knot in the next year.

While the Man on the Couch’s mom loves “The Bachelorette,” after 18 seasons and only one successful marriage, I’m not holding my breath that this one will work out either, but I wish them the best. Hopefully Ed has found the perfect balance that will allow him to have love and a successful career.

At the opposite end of the happily-ever-after spectrum, reality TV has split up yet another couple. The Hogans reportedly have reached a settlement, according to the Associated Press. The celeb wrestler and his wife, Linda, finalized the proceeding earlier this week after a bitter fight that apparently boiled down to the couples’ millions and jealousy. Isn’t that what it’s always about?
